The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments are in generally good condition. The work is structurally sound. There is minor rubbing to the extreme edges and corners. The canvas is slack on the stretcher. There are stretcher marks visible along the vertical edges, with associated cracks. There is some soft surface dust and dirt in places. There are some pinpoint sized brown accretions in places. There is an impact craquelure in the centre right area, with an associated paint loss. There is a small perforation in the lower right area. There are a few loose threads in places, in keeping with the artist's working process. Examination under ultraviolet light shows no indication of inpainting. It is our opinion that the work is in good condition.
The authenticity of this work has kindly been confirmed by Gisela Capitain of the Estate Martin Kippenberger, Cologne. This work will be part of the forthcoming Catalogue Raisonné of the Paintings Vol. II 1983-1986 being compiled by the Estate of Martin Kippenberger.
