Si potrebbe dire che Mitoraj rende credibile il classicismo presentandolo come una verità devastata: il momento del geometrico, illogico nelle sue figure, ne è epitome. Si può anche dire che le sue opere sono tanto dei modernissimi "oggetti inquieti", nel senso dato al termine da Harold Rosenberg - "oggetti d'arte... privi di una sicura identità classica" -, quanto oggetti inquieti classici privi di una sicura identità moderna. Sono straordinarie "formazioni di compromesso": sogni che esprimono un desiderio di integrità e interezza classiche deformato dall'apparente impossibilità d'interezza e dalla realtà della disgregazione interiore della modernità.

One could say that Mitoraj makes classicism credible by presenting it as a devastated truth: the moment of the geometric, illogical in his figures, is its epitome. It can also be said that his works are both highly modern "anxious objects", in the meaning given to the term by Harold Rosenberg - "objects of art ... devoid of a certain classical identity" -, as well as classical anxious objects devoid of a secure modern identity. They are extraordinary "compromise formations": dreams expressing a longing for classical integrity and wholeness warped by the apparent impossibility of wholeness and the reality of modernity's inner disintegration.
