[…] "Capriccio italiano", del 1987, apre il seguente gruppo di lavori tutti realizzati tra il 1988 e il 1989. Il titolo del dipinto ripropone il nome di un poema sinfonico, "op. 45", che Čajkovski compose nel 1880, in omaggio all'Italia visitata nel corso di un breve soggiorno. Forse solo coincidenza, in questo lavoro le pennellate si dispongono sulla tela con un ritmo ascendente che sembra suggerire il moto del mare ma anche un crescendo musicale, una danza di colori, azzurri, verdi, rossi, bianchi, gialli, mescolati e distinti in un "capriccio" tutto italiano, ribadito dallo svettare del tricolore.

[...] "Capriccio italiano", from 1987, opens the following group of works all created between 1988 and 1989. The title of the painting reproduces the name of a symphonic poem, "op. 45", that Čajkovski composed in 1880 as a tribute to Italy which he visited during a brief stay. Perhaps just coincidence, in this work the brushstrokes are arranged on the canvas with an ascending rhythm that seems to suggest the motion of the sea but also a musical crescendo, a dance of colours, blues, greens, reds, whites, yellows, mixed and distinct in an all-Italian "capriccio", reaffirmed by the soaring of the tricolour.
