Camille Pissarro (1830-1903)
Autograph letter (unsigned, perhaps a draft) to an unknown recipient (‘Monsieur’), Éragny, 3 November 1894
In French. One page, 229 x 181mm. Provenance: Sotheby's, 15 & 16 November 1982, lot 586.

A handwritten price list to a potential client, apparently a picture dealer in Dresden. Pissarro gives the prices of seven different sizes of gilt frames, and asks what the recipient's commission will be on the sale of pictures. As he is not yet well known in Dresden, he fears making a loss if he sends pictures for sale on commission; his preference would be for his correspondent to purchase a few pictures outright, at the same price as Paris dealers such as Durand-Ruel.
