The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation Inc.:
This painting is unlined. The tacking edges have been reinforced for proper stretching. The paint layer is stable and not abraded, but during its journey from the Saturday Evening Post to a private collection numerous small losses occurred. Under ultraviolet light examination, the largest of the restorations is visible in the sky in the center of the picture and in the trees in the center. There are also retouches to isolated paint losses in the remainder of the picture that can be seen under ultraviolet light. Otherwise, there is no discoloration to the paint layer. The painting looks well and should be hung as is.
