The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation Inc.:
This painting has been restored and should be hung in its current condition. The canvas has been lined. The lining is applied with a non-wax adhesive. The paint layer is stable, clean and well-varnished. Under ultraviolet light one can see some retouches around the extreme edges that address frame abrasion. There is also one restoration in the spherical chafing dish in the lower left. There is another restoration in the folded hands of the woman on the right, in the cuff of her left sleeve and in her dress to the right of her chest. There are two isolated restorations in the upper right on the wall addressing small paint losses. The painting should be hung as is.
