This ink, wash and gouache on paper is in good condition overall. The paper does not present planar distortions. The paper is hinged in two places at the verso top edge. The paper has been lined with a mulberry tissue. There are two tears: a repaired fracture in the center of the image, 5" down from the top edge and 9 ½" in from the left edge, and a 1" repaired tear at the right edge 3" up from the bottom edge. One matching paper insert, 1" x 1 ½", has been installed at the bottom left corner. Minor adhesive staining and abrasions in the paper are visible along the bottom and right edges out of the image; this is likely from a previous matting treatment. Visually, the paper is mildly oxidized from contact with acidic material and a natural process of aging due to light exposure. Minor inpainting is present at the repairs to blend them with the surrounding areas. Otherwise, the media appears to be well preserved.
