The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This dramatic work is in beautiful condition. The canvas is well-stretched. The paint layer is clean and nicely varnished. In the sky the paint layer is slightly heavier than in the remainder of the picture and has developed a few cracks which are slightly visible but are not indications of any instability. There are no retouches to the paint layer and the work should be hung in its current condition.
