This watercolor, gouache and pencil on brown paper is in good condition overall. The brown paper does not present tears, paper losses, or planar distortions. The brown paper is mounted to mulberry tissue with ¼" border at each edge. The paper is hinged in four places with small mulberry hinges at the verso top edge plus two small linen tape tabs on both the recto top and bottom edges. There are subtle surface scratches visible in raking light, mostly in the upper right quadrant. Visually, the brown paper is moderately oxidized from contact with acidic material and a natural process of aging due to light exposure. Although some fading is to be expected for a work of art of this age, the media appears to be well preserved.
