The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This work is in very fresh condition. It has never been off its stretcher. The paint layer has been cleaned and lightly varnished. The paint layer is stable but visibly cracked; the work should be lined if the cracking is disturbing. The only retouches are in one confined area of the background to the left of the forehead. Otherwise, there are no retouches.
