The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The Chinese mirror painting: generally very vibrant, with the typical tiny losses to the silvering scattered throughout, commensurate with age. Some larger areas of more prominent loss to the silvering, mainly at the upper edge and just above the horizon at the center. Some areas of loss and thinning to the colors, mainly at the ground and rockwork elements; could benefit from rebacking. Each side of the mirror with the typical scattered superficial scratches, commensurate with handling, and the typical dust or debris around the edges, mostly obscured by the frame. The mirror plate not unframed for inspection.
The frame: overall in good order, structurally sound and ready to hang. With scattered chips, losses to carving and gilt surfaces revealing gesso, bole and bare wood in areas as to be expected with age; the surface regilt. Overall good appearance.
