The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall the chairs are all structurally sound, sturdy, and ready to use. They maintain a good appearance and have the typical minor scattered marks, nicks, surface scratches, and small repairs consistent with antique furniture. There is general wear, some fading, and light pulling to the fabric covering the drop-in seats, and a couple with very faint stains, and a couple with lifting to the applied trim, all as to be expected.
Chair A: George III, late 18th century open armchair. Slightly lighter in color than the other 11 chairs, but not noticeable unless under bright light. With an old repaired crack to the crest-rail and old repairs and reinforcements to the upper joins with subsequent infill. The left scrolled hand with an old dowel-reinforcement and subsequent infill. Some infill to nicks and tiny losses throughout, all of which is commensurate with age. Presently is sturdy and ready to use.
Chair B: Open armchair, modern. General aforementioned minor marks and nicks etc. as applies to whole set. Small, inch long chip to left scrolled hand. And 1/4 inch nick to elbow of left arm.
Chairs C-L: Side chairs, modern. Also with the general aforementioned minor scuffs, marks, nicks, etc. to each. Nothing outside the ordinary worth noting, all ready to use and sturdy.
