For the treatment of the beard see the stucco bust of a king, no. 41 in P.O. Harper, The Royal Hunter, Art of the Sasanian Empire. The large eyes, here with their pupils drilled for now-missing inlays, are characteristic for sculpture throughout the late antique world, from Egypt to Iran.
