拍品专文

The sweating child from the preceding drawing (Lot 1) reappears here in sculptural form as imagery moves from graphic line into quiet three-dimensional presence. Wakefulness rests in heavy eyelids and rounded cheeks as the small figure sits on a narrow bench, a compact form of inward awareness. In Japanese visual culture, feeling often emerges through distilled physiognomy, from the clay faces of Haniwa figures (Lot 34) to the iconic simplicity of Hello Kitty (Lot 29). The solitary child keeps watch through the night, recalling the vigilant stillness long embodied by nocturnal creatures such as owls (Lot 6).
