A small panel of identical silk to the present lot is illustrated in D. Blum, The Fine Art of Textiles: The Collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, 1997, p. 177, as one supposedly brought from China on the ship Alliance by Philadelphian Robert Morris in 1788.
