Please note antique textiles exhibit wear, losses, soiling and tears from normal use and repurposing. Some elements are re-pieced together with complimentary or contemporaneous textiles to mend.
Likely removed from a folding screen or a wall; the edges with some fraying, curling and subsequent small nail holes ringed with rust stains; the tops uneven. Overall with somes scattered staining, rubbing and discoloration to the paint; areas of speckled discoloration to the ground. The third panel with a yellow tone and areas of shattering to the silk ground (several spots with patch repairs) and more apparent fading to the paint, notably lacking the coloring to the figures' clothing and the flesh-colored paint to the female figures and the babies. The fourth panel with a grayish tone and speckled discoloration to the silk ground; areas of heavy shattering and losses (several spots with patch repairs); fading to the paint as in the third panel.
