The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Please note antique textiles exhibit wear, losses, soiling and tears from normal use and repurposing. Some elements are re-pieced together with complimentary or contemporaneous textiles to mend.

A panel of French silk and linen damask (Toile de Rheims) with a plum ground and figured in teal with a Proto-Bizarre pattern of leaves and fruits, third quarter 17th century: 20¹⁄₈ in. (51.1 cm.) wide, 41¹⁄₂ in. (105.4 cm.) long. Overall with some minor fading as expected with age. The ground with some abrasions and discoloration, particularly at the creases, revealing the teal threads beneath in some areas. Scattered small snags and pulls and the edges with some minor fraying. Presents well.

A panel of French or Italian silk and linen damask (Toile de Rheims), purple ground figured in indigo with a repeat pattern of stylized flowers and exotic swag, mid-17th century: 20 in. (50.8 cm.) wide, 34¹⁄₄ in. (87 cm.) long (uneven). The ground with scattered rubbing and abrasions, revealing the indigo threads in areas and rubbed entirely through/threadbare in at least one area by the edge approx. 1 in. long. The ends fraying and uneven. A small, discolored hole to the upper right quadrant.

A small panel of French brocaded silk with a striped purple ground brocaded in shades of pink, green and silver, loose sprigs and three vines, lined with a linen damask and silver metallic threaded trim, circa 1760: 20³⁄₄ in. (52.7 cm.) wide, 23¹⁄₂ in. (59.7 cm.) long. The ground with some minor abrasions and spot staining. The polychrome silk floss with areas of rubbing, lifting, fraying and small losses in some areas. The silver metallic trim with some discoloration and wear. The damask lining with some discoloration and spot staining.

A small panel of French brocaded silk with a grey-purple ground, embroidered in red, orange, green and white as small sprigs, lined with linen and edge with a silver metallic threaded trim, circa 1680: 20³⁄₄ in. (52.7 cm.) wide, 21 in. (53.3 cm.) long. The ground with some areas of rubbing and a few tears by the edges. The polychrome silk floss with rubbing and fraying, revealing the ground beneath in areas. The silver metallic trim with some discoloration and wear. The linen with areas of spot staining and a small tear.

A document of 'Bizarre' silk on a lilac silk ground, machine woven in red, salmon, yellow, green, cream and silver metallic sprigs and meandering ribbon, 19th century: 20³⁄₄ in. (52.7 cm.) square. Overall with some minor discoloration. The ground with some minor areas of abrasions. The polychrome silk floss with some minor rubbing. The metallic silver threads with losses to the silver wrapping, revealing base threads beneath. The ends with some fraying . The reverse stamped '1931' and with affixed paper tag reading 'No. 13 / 1931 / 21" / 9/16 yd.'

A document of 'Lace Pattern' silk on a plum silk ground, machine woven with cream, rose, salmon and metallic threads of a large bouquet and dense foliage surround, 19th century: 20³⁄₄ in. (52.7 cm.) wide, 22⁵⁄₈ in. (57.5 cm.) long. Overall in good condition. Some minor areas of rubbing to the polychrome silk floss. The ends with some minor fraying and stabilized with whip stitching.

A pieced panel of French brocaded silk, the brown silk ground with supplemental floats in brown silk, with polychrome silk brocaded large blossoms and silver metallic meandering vine, circa 1750: 19¹⁄₂ in. (49.5 cm.) wide, 38 in. (96.5 cm.) long. Pieced. The polychrome silk with areas of rubbing, revealing the ground beneath in areas. The silver metallic areas with heavy rubbing and losses, including to the wrapped threads, revealing base threads beneath.

Two small pieces of Italian cut velvet, eggplant purple on a taupe ground, a small repeat pattern of shaped cartouche and ribbon, with later applied backing, circa 1620-30: 16³⁄₄ in. (42.5 cm.) wide, 20⁷⁄₈ in. (53 cm.) long, each. One pieced. Overall with some discoloration and spot staining. The uncut velvet with heavy rubbing and losses. The edges with some fraying. The lining with areas of spot staining.
