The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
The larger horse: with hind legs broken off and restored with associated overpainting; some chips and large areas of loss to glaze overall, some of which have been retouched.
The smaller horse: minor areas of restoration, especially to tip of tail and hooves; some wear and degradation to glaze, hind legs possibly reattached.
The stands: 63⁄4 in. (17 cm.) high; 61⁄2 in. (16.5 cm.) square at the base. The ebonised wood stands with internal weighting. Some mouldings reattached. Evidence of old, apparently inactive woodworm. Rubbing and wear, scratches, knocks and dents to the ebonised staining and surfaces overall.
