The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
Cover 1:
An approx. 4 cm. long vertical hairline (mostly visible inside).
A few other short hairlines.
A few scattered flat nicks (to rims and surface).
Sifter 1:
An old chip to the foot rim.
A nick to the mouth rim (behind the silver mount).
A 3.5 cm. long star-crackle inside (not going through).
A paper label with a handwritten inscription reading '230'.
Cover 2:
A few small nicks to the raised edges.
A few short hairlines.
A very small area of extensive wear to the upper section.
The silver finial is loose.
Sifter 2:
A 4 cm. long hairline crack going down from the mouth rim, associated with an approx. 1.5 cm. long horizontal crackle only visible inside. .
A nick under the foot rim.
A paper label with a handwritten inscription reading '230'.
All:
The mouth rims possibly polished to fit the mounts.
Some fritting to the edges and rims.
Some scattered burst bubbles/glaze nicks and firing spots.
General age-related surface wear, scratches and firing faults as can be expected.
