拍品专文

This cup is fashioned in imitation of an ancient bronze jue, a ritual vessel traditionally used for warming and serving wine. It illustrates the elegant use of a rich monochrome yellow glaze characteristic of Jingdezhen production. Archaistic monochrome wares of this type were frequently created for ritual or ceremonial purposes. For a comparable yellow-glazed jue from the Ezekiel Collection, see Sotheby’s London, 3 November 2021, lot 12. See also a closely related moulded yellow-glazed archaistic tripod libation cup (jue), dated 18th-19th century, sold at Christie’s, London, 14 May 2019, lot 165.
