The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after the initial period manufacture.
- There are scratches and age-related surface wear to both of the birds and restoration to the gilding of both beaks.
- There is light restoration with associated overpainting and areas of infill encircling the bases.
- One crane has had its leg reattached and has been knocked to the tall feathers with the extremties slightly bent inwards.
- The underside of the bases are inscribed in black ink with partially legible writing, one with an inscription reading "pair ‘ESK 1129 and the other ‘1129 EST pie’.
