Lot Essay

The shape of this unusual cloisonné enamel brushpot is based on hardwood prototypes. The present lot may be compared with a late 18th/early 19th century cloisonne enamel brush pot of the same form, size, and related design sold at Christie's New York, 19 September 2006, lot 107.
