The exterior of the bowl is painted in bright shades of cobalt blue depicting a riverside landscape scene, with scholars, deer, cranes and tall pine trees. The interior is decorated with a roundel enclosing two deer, below a border of upright leaves and rocks encircling the slightly flaring mouth rim.
