The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
mythical beast:
- loss to the area below the arched torso, under the proper right front paw, and possibly under the chin- small chips to the end of tail
larger zitan brush pot:
- an old chip to one character near the foot
- minor nicks and gauge marks to the mouth and foot
miniature zitan brush pot:
- a consolidated age crack and other age cracks to the body
- two fills to the beading above the foot- minor nicks to the edges
bamboo brush pot:
- a few consolidated age cracks and other age cracks
- minor nicks and indentation on the edges
- the wood mount and base are probably later added
