The finial appears to have been ground down. There is surface wear with associated losses to the pigment throughout, otherwise in good condition. There are two small cracks (each approx. 1/4 in. long) visible at the inner left edge of the cover and the box (respectively). There are radiating crescent-shaped hairline cracks visible at the upper edge of the box, with associated minor staining visible along the interior edge. Inspection under u/v reveals possible signs of previous restoration.
