Oil on paper laid down on canvas. Varnished. Some masking tape along the edges. Some networks of fine craquelures most likely inherent to the laying down process and probably dating from the artist’s studio. Some of this craquelures with a few small paint losses in places. Some further craquelures with associated lifting and potential tears to the paper at the lower right corner. Examined under ultra-violet light: a few small areas of retouching in places in the background mainly towards the centre of the right edge (probably corresponding to a skillfully repaired tear). Some further small passages of retouching along the edges, mainly at the lower right corner and a few further areas of fluorescence towards the edges most likely corresponding to the irregular application of the varnish.
