The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Oil on canvas. Strip-lined. Varnished. Slight frame abrasions to the extreme edges, with a few associated pigment losses. Some fine lines of stable craquelures in the background in places. Vertical stretcher barmark visible. Surface dirt, most noticeably to the edges. Two small pigment losses above the right-most boat. A few pinpoint surface accretion. Examined under ultra-violet light: some strokes and pinpoints of retouching along the upper edge. A few further intermittent strokes to the edges and corners. One area of uneven fluorescence off the centre left edge with possible retouching. Some fluorescence in the sky along the upper and right edges, likely from the artist.
