拍品專文

Dr. Parson’s fond memories of the spring season in Kolkata found a powerful resonance in this Ragamala series, particularly the Hindol raga, traditionally associated with the arrival of spring and its lyrical melodies in Indian classical music. The work evoked for him the beauty, renewal, and musical richness of the season. Deeply connected through his lifelong passion for classical music, he was drawn to acquire the piece as a visual expression of those cherished memories and musical traditions.

Thirty-five pages from another Jaipur set from the same period are in the Art Institute of Chicago (1962.147.1-35).
