We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired since its initial manufacture.
All:
- expected nicks to the edges, inclusions and fissures to the stone
The malachite toad:
- the two legs have been restuck, some cracks and losses to the underside
The lapis lazulis vase in cover
- remnants of glues to the rims
- there are few chips to the relief carvings
The budai:
- there is a vertical crack through the carving, probably restuck
The standing horse
- a section of loss to the tail which has been recarved
The pair of lions:
- enhanced coloration
- chips to the edges, claws, tails, and back, some of which have been polished
