The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
It is in our opinion that the property is in good overall condition for its age.
- There is a fine age crack extends from the top edge of the center panel to the Buddha’s aureole; on the reverse there appears to be an associated fine crack and some touch-ups to the top piece and to where the top piece joins the center panel.
- There is a small area of loss to one vapor near the lotus plinth of the bodhisattva on the center panel on the proper left.
- As expected, the silver decoration and metal mounts are tarnished, and there are some scattered losses to the tiny inlays, some minor dents, and some overall light surface wear.
- As expected, there is some light rubbing to the gilt and other pigments.
