The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Figure:
- a few chips to the edges of armor and clothing, and a few expected nicks to edges and extremities
- a firing crack extends upwards from the base, with associated small losses to glaze
- the head has remnants of red pigment and earth accretions
Both masks:
-chips and nicks to edges of clothing and extremities
- expected loss to pigments
One mask:
- areas of restoration and overpainting, particularly to the horns, one eyebrow, teeth and multiple bosses
- there is a TL test hole in between the horns
The other mask: restoration and overpainting to the tip of the horns and one tooth
