Highly decorative double-hemisphere world map prepared by Hubert Jaillot for his Atlas Royalfirst published in 1695, this is the rare reissue published almost a century later. Although the coastline of Australia is now slightly separated from that of New Guinea, anachronisms such as California as an island, and the remants of the outline of a vast southern continent, remain. French claims to North America are prominently marked on the landmass and in the North Atlantic as 'Canada ou Nouvelle France'. Shirley, World 561.
