拍品專文

The present lot depicts two Venetian scenes which capture moments of everyday life. Federico del Campo is one of the finest 19th century vedute painters whose ability to capture Venice’s light, romantic atmosphere and gothic architecture continues a rich tradition dating back to the 17th century. Artists such as Martin Rico y Ortega (1833-1908), Rubens Santoro (1859-1941) and Franz Richard Unterberger (1837-1902), joined del Campo in his pursuit of his oeuvre – capturing the effects of sunlight dancing on the water and bathing Venice’s architecture in a golden glow.
Born in Lima, Peru, in 1837, del Campo’s work is recognised for its crystalline atmosphere and great technical precision. Using short, fine brushstrokes and glazes to mimic the shimmer of the water’s surface, del Campo’s panels achieve a luminous quality. This sparkling snapshot of daily life in Venice establishes del Campo as one of the city’s most dedicated and talented devotés.
