View of Greek classical ruins

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Oil on canvas.
The canvas has not been lined. The canvas is slightly slack on the stretcher.
The paint layer appears to be secure and stable. The painted surface as some minor surface dirt and some varnish discolouration.
There are some fine patterns of craquelure visible in the raking light.
Examination under UV light shows some retouching to the tallest pillar, some retouching to the sky and a few other minor scattered spots of sensitively handled retouching.
Overall the picture presents very well in a dark gilt period style frame.
