Étude pour "Commedia dell'arte" (pour le foyer du théâtre de Francfort)

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Gouache, brush and India ink and pencil on wove paper. The reverse of the sheet is hinged to the mount in three places at the upper reverse edge. The right and left edges deckled. Some rubbing of the pencil in places. Some pale discolouration of the sheet. A brown stain (approx. 1 cm. diameter) towards the centre of the right edge. A few spots of green gouache in the lower part of the composition dating from the artist’s studio. Some creases along the left sheet edge. The sheet undulates slightly along the right edge. The ink is strong throughout. Subject to the foregoing, it is our opinion that this work appears to be in generally good condition.

Gouache, encre de Chine et graphite sur papier vélin. Le revers de la feuille est maintenu au montage à deux endroits le long de l’extrémité du bord supérieur. Les bords droit et gauche sont non-ébarbés. De l’usure du graphite par endroits. Légère décoloration de la feuille. Une tache brune (enivron 1 cm. de diamètre) vers le centre du bord droit. Quelques rares points de gouache vert dans la partie inférieure de la composition, datant de l’atelier de l’artiste. Des froissures le long du bord gauche de la feuille. La feuille ondule légèrement le long du bord droit. L’encre est vive sur l’ensemble de la composition. Sous réserve de ce qui précède et selon notre opinion, cette œuvre apparaît en bonne condition générale.
