Limited edition, number 3 of 600 copies. The beautifully-produced series of plates immortalizing the famous costume designs of Bakst, the first artistic director of the Ballet Russes, was produced in 600 copies only. Bakst’s stage designs and the exotic, vibrantly chromatic costumes were very influential in fashion. The plates record, among other creations, those for The Sleeping Princess, Daphnis and Chloe, The Marvellous Night, Fantastic Shop, Boris Godunov.

Folio. 30 full-page illustrations, of which 20 coloured by hand or pochoir and many highlighted in silver, 13 mounted colour plates, captioned tissue guards, and illustrations and decorations in text. Original cloth-backed pictorial boards; original dust-jacket (upper panel detached, chipped at head of spine and upper panel into image, somewhat toned); housed in decorative card slipcase within custom red morocco-backed box.
