Lot Essay

The design of a comparable candlestick with three female term figures is included in the folio of an anonymous bronzier in Paris circa 1810, now in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (CD 3855). For illustration see H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen: Die Bronzearbeiten des Spätbarocok und Klassizismus, Klinkhart et Biermann, Munich, 1986 p. 326, fig. 5.1.7.
