The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
-The vase and the elephant were modeled separately.
Vase:
-There are two areas of restoration on one side of the mouth rim.
-There are patches of white pigment on the interior and exterior of the neck.
-There are a few raised bumps on the exterior.
-There are a few minor raised bumps, inherent to manufacture.
-There are a few glaze burst bubbles on the lower section.
-There is a chips and nicks to the foot rim.
-The base has been mounted with metal attachments, which are later.
Elephant:
-There are two notches and a chip to the rim of the opening.
-There are two glaze gaps on the saddle.
-There is an area of restoration to one end of the saddle.
-There are pinprick holes on the glaze.
-The tip of one tusk is missing.
-There are two short cracks the elephant's nose.
-There are a few minutes nicks to the edges, particularly to the sides of the drapery.
