Specialist's Notes:
This delicate brooch embodies notable features from Buccellati’s workshop – delicate but complicated foliate motifs and “lacy” fine gold metal work done by hand. In this piece, the diamonds accent and brighten the iconic “honeycomb” gold work that the designer’s goldsmiths are known for. To achieve this effect, holes are cut through manually first to create the desired pattern, then the goldsmith will realize the textured “honeycomb” effect by sawing each tiny hole with a blade at least 5 times. The intricate work is part of the House’s history and this brooch is a great example of Buccellati’s history.
