Lot Essay

The IWC Der Doppelchronograph is a tool watch at heart with great style and functionality. These watches are the inspiration for a lot of the new IWC pilot style watches. IWC launched the “Flieger” family of watches in 1993 and is now the ancestor of the “Spitfire” collection. Displaying day and date (here in Italian), a rare feature for a split-second chronograph, this “Chrono Rattrapante” allows the timing of two different events through the two superposed center chronograph hands. Reasonably sized at 42mm, this early and easy to read & manipulate pilot’s watch is mounted on a well-designed and very comfortable matching stainless steel bracelet.
