Lot Essay
This particular Air-King features a silvered dial with alpha hands and an underline dial referring to the fact it has a small line above the 6 o'clock hour marker on the bottom of the dial. Many believe the underline is supposed to refer to the luminous material mixture change from radium to tritium. The inside of the case back is stamped I.63 indicating it is approximately from the first quarter of 1963. Rolex watches with underline dials are in great demand by collectors.

The case and bracelet are in good condition with scratches. The case appears to be polished. The bracelet has some stretch. The bezel has scratches and light dents. The case back has scratches. The second to last link on the 12 o’clock side of the bracelet that sits underneath the clasp is dented. Inside both sets of lugs have developed pitting and the reference number and serial numbers are not visible. The dial and hands appear to be original and have developed patina. The luminescent material in the hour and minutes hands are completely missing. The luminescent material on the dial is intact and has developed patina. This watch unusually features “SWISS” only printed on the dial, whereas most dial had “T SWISS T” denoting tritium lume by the time of the serial and production year of this year.” The crystal has few light scratches. This watch has a 7835 19 bracelet and 357 end links. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. A service is recommended given the age of the watch.
