'Love to Love You Baby', written by Giorgio Moroder, Pete Bellotte and Donna Summer, was released as Summer's debut US single on 26 November 1976 and rapidly gained commercial success. The single peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of 7 February 1976 and earned Gold certification from the RIAA on 19 February, its popularity winning Summer the moniker 'The First Lady of Love'. Its parent album, the LP Love to Love You Baby, was certified Gold by the RIAA on 19 January. In Billboard's 1976 Year-End charts, the single ranked at #41 and Summer herself achieved the #1 position on the Disco Artists chart.
