A fragment from a Missal
Fragment of a Missal in Latin, manuscript on vellum [France or Flanders, late 11th or early 12th century]
An attractive example of a fine bookhand

c.280 × 212mm. Most of a leaf, written in a very elegant late Caroline script, comprising part of the text for the Monday and Tuesday after the third Sunday in Lent, from the Graduale ‘Deus vitam meam nunciavi tibi […]’ to the reading from IV Kings 4:1–7, the Graduale, Offertory, and Officium written in smaller script to allow space for music, which was never supplied (recovered from use as a pastedown in a tanned leather binding, with consequent stains, wear, etc., and cropped at the lower edge with the loss of one and a half(?) lines of text)

Provenance:
Colker MS 320; acquired in 1984 from Maggs
