Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall condition is good. Surfaces and extremities with wear, occasional scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and handling. The gilt wood with areas of superficial rubbing and subsequent loss to the gilding, as well as a few woodgrain separations visible upon inspection. Some mirrored glass elements likely replaced at a later stage, however all are in harmony with the composition and a perfect match in appearance with the rest. The guache on paper with occasional areas of blemish and a few areas of separation, the paper having deteriorated over time in places as visible from the catalogue illustrations. Overall, a very attractive pair, with consistent patina throughout, of really impressive scale and presence, ready for immediate display.
