The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Oil on canvas. Not lined. Varnished. A few small circular pigments losses in the lower half of the left edge and in the lower left corner. Surface dirt associated with pinpoint surface accretions. Some very fine networks of stable craquelures in the sky at upper centre and in a few further places. Examined under ultraviolet light: the surface is difficult to read due to a milky varnish; a few small strokes of retouching at the upper left edge and in an area in the river off of the right lower edge, corresponding to an old restoration, as visible on the reverse.
