Lot Essay

The scratched inventory number '1724C' on the present lot was most likely added for Tiffany & Co., the famous jewelry house in New York. Tiffany imported Russian enamel pieces by Feodor Rückert, Antip Kuzmichev, Maria Semenova and other silversmiths between 1887 and 1914 for sale in the United States.

For other almost identical bowls by Feodor Rückert see Sotheby's, New York, 15 December 1988, lot 431 and Christies, New York, 18 April 2007, lot 261.
