The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

With a clean, complete well-maintained appearance, structurally sound and ready to use. With scattered age and construction cracks, and general overall marks, nicks, surface scratches, tiny losses and repairs consistent with age and use. The veneers overall in well-restored condition, with the expected scattered fraying, lifting, and minor cracks with minor areas of losses and signs of infill and restorations, overall with a polished surface. The carcases with some evidence of minor woodworm, now inactive. The marble with some repairs, and with light scratches throughout and some chips and 'nibbles', mainly along the back edges, consistent with use and handling. The ormolu with some minor surface scratches, casting flaws, verdigris and rubbing, as to be expected; the chutes apparently repositioned, also appearing to retain their mercury gilding. Overall good condition, strongly figured veneers, ready to place.
