La toile a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage, elle est maintenue sous tension et reste stable. Le rentoilage a quelque peu aplati les empâtements de la composition.
Le tableau présente bien à la lumière naturelle, la nature sculpturale de la composition étant pleinement appréciable. Il y a des traces de comblement de craquelures dans les carnations. Il y a une griffure de 5 cm dans l'arrière-plan, à gauche du personnage.
L'examen sous lumière UV confirme ce qui précède. Il y a d'autres retouches éparses dans l'arrière-plan et dans les passages sombres du costume. Il y a une déchirure horizontale restaurée de 9 cm dans la manche blanche du modèle. La matière est stable.

The canvas has been subject to relining, it is held under tension and remains stable. The relining process has flattened the impasted areas of the composition somewhat.
The painting presents well in natural light, with the sculptural nature of the composition fully appreciable. There is evidence of some infill to the craquelure in the flesh tones. There is a scratch of 5 cm in the background to the left of the sitter.
Examination under UV light confirms the above. There is further scattered retouching in the background and in the dark passages of the costume. There is a restored horizontal tear of 9 cm in the sitter's white sleeve. The paint is stable.
