The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The pictures on our website are overexposed : the color of the bronze patina is less shiny and the gilding is more tarnished and less bright.
Some visible castings flows to the putti.
There are surface scratches, nicks and stains to both torchères. Abrasions and accidents to the patina.
Two visible circular orange stains/discolorations to the belly and the upper part of thigh of one putto.
Both are with visible traces of dirt, including the back of the head and wings of one putto, and would benefit from a cleaning.
Verdigris traces including to the top branches and the gilt elements. As visible on the images some gilt elements are varnished with a red paint (including to the top branches and the roses on the fluted columns). This red paint is probably original.
Some gilt bronze leaves are missing.
Please note that one top vase and the two light bouquets need to be refixed properly.
Interesting and very decorative pair of torchères which would really benefit from cleaning and restoration.
