Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845) operated out of 7 Hanway Street in London starting in about 1805. Initially describing himself as a dealer of china and glass, by 1821 he advertised his business as ‘buying, selling, exchanging and valuing China, Cabinets, Screens, Bronzes etc.’. As a dealer of antiques operating among the fashionable set in London, he also apparently repaired and remodeled existing furniture and potentially designed his own. Baldock retired in 1843 after years of successful business and moved to a fashionable address on Hyde Park Place.
