Lot Essay

Glenn Randall designed a limited number tables identical to the present lot for a select group his esteemed clientele. These chic tables, made of petrified wood and striking Italian marble, were supplied to top clients like Wendell and Dorothy Cherry, for Gerard Hochschild's glamorous Paris apartment, and to top dealers such as French and Company and Mallet. The stone was sourced in Pietrasanta, a coastal town in the Lucca province of Tuscany and sent to firms in New York and England to complete the commissions.
